Your lease

What is staircasing

If you are a shared owner of your home, you can ‘staircase’ at any time. Staircasing allows you to buy additional shares in your property until you reach 100%.

Why should I staircase?

The benefits of staircasing include:

  1. A reduced monthly rent, as you will own a larger share in your property
  2. A reduction in certain restrictions in your lease once you own 100% of your property. For example, you will have more flexibility in how you sell it
  3. More equity for you, if your home goes up in value.
