We held our first community action day

We recently held our first community action day in the courtyard at Muirfield House, Gleneagles House & Moor Park House in Great Hollands.

Community action days are part of a new initiative being introduced at Silva Homes. They provide a great opportunity to meet face to face with our customers to discuss and address any issues to do with properties, or in the community.

At our first one, we spoke to 11 customers, supporting them with repairs, and answering their housing-related queries.

We also offered a bulk waste removal service so our customers could dispose of their unwanted items, and tidied up the courtyard, installing two new planting areas to create a more aesthetic and inviting communal space.

Some repairs were carried out for customers on the day, and other repairs were booked in by the team.

We were also delighted to welcome the Leader of Bracknell Forest Council, Councillor Mary Temperton, to the day, to meet customers and see first hand the work being carried out.

Olivia Fuller, Community Investment Manager said:

“I found our first community action day really productive and a great start to launching some exciting community investment projects under the new partnership.

“I felt the day went really well, despite the weather! It was great to see representatives from different departments,  all pulling together to deliver a positive event for our customers.

“From feedback on the day, our customers were pleased to see Silva colleagues present in their community. But they also want us to follow up on issues raised, rather than just be present on the day, so our work doesn’t stop here!”

Tom Mason, Lead Customer Relations Parter (Housing Services) said:

“I was delighted to meet and support customers at our first community action day. Days like today are a great example of how we’re getting better connected to our customers.

“I look forward to seeing what more we will achieve to support our communities grow and thrive.”

The successful kick-off of our community action days is a fantastic example of how joining the Abri group will make a positive difference for our customers. We plan to run plenty more of these to better support our customers and communities.

Keep an eye out for when we announce our next community action day – it might be in your neighbourhood!
