Party time at the Liscombe House reopening ceremony

The Liscombe House communal areas have been undergoing a huge refurbishment over the last few months to transform them into a wonderful, and more practical space.

The upgrade included a structural reconfiguration of the communal space, extra space created in the kitchen, new carpets and a slip-proof floor, a fresh coat of paint, contemporary wall decorations and artwork and some comfortable new furniture.

The space for a hairdresser was also upgraded and the laundry room was re-decorated. Finally, the guest room has been given a makeover and is now a welcoming space for up to two guests to stay the night.

Once the work was finished, our Liscombe House customers, Silva Homes colleagues and representatives of our contractor, Axis, gathered to celebrate, eat some delicious food, and say their thanks for all the hard work that went into the renovation.

Speaking at the event, Michelle, our independent living manager, said: “I’m delighted with the results of the Liscombe House communal area refurbishment. Many of our customers here are very sociable, so the transformation will absolutely encourage this and will have a positive impact on our residents.

“I would like to thank our entire independent living team for their help and support whilst the work was ongoing- it was a real team effort. I’d also like to thank Sal for project managing this and ensuring it was completed on time!”

Carl, a resident of Liscombe House said: “I’m happy with the professional handling of this job. The furniture is perfect, and I’m so pleased with the non-slip floor that’s been installed.

“It has definitely given me a lift knowing that the communal area I spend time socialising in is now much nicer for everyone who lives here.”

We hope the residents and visitors to Liscombe House enjoy the newly renovated space and continue to make happy memories there.
