It’s LGBT+ History Month
Every February, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans + (LGBT+) History Month aims to promote equality and diversity.
One of the key priorities of our new strategy is to promote equality, diversity and inclusion. At Silva Homes, we believe it is important to make sure that what we do allows colleagues and customers to thrive, whatever their circumstances.
This means that we want to celebrate the diversity within our colleagues and customers. As part of this, it is important that we continue to raise awareness and promote LGBT+ welfare, history, and experiences.
Politics In Art: 'The Arc Is Long'
2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the first Pride March to occur in the UK. That's why this year's theme is celebrating a popular slogan of the early Gay Rights Movement: "the personal is political". Art was included in the theme as creating and enjoying art is often a deeply personal pastime.
The second part of this year's theme: 'The Arc is Long', was inspired by Dr Martin Luther King Jnr's quote: "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice". It was chosen as it recognises that this year’s anniversary is one on a continuing and winding journey towards full equality, which has suffered many setbacks while still moving forwards.
