2018 update - work is on site

United Living staff and sub-contractors started on site at Iveagh Court from Monday 5 February with a site office cabin and compound. This compound will be based to the rear of the open area car park and the existing portacabin will be removed.

Key contacts and any questions about the work

United Living will be the main contact for any questions and enquiries about work at Iveagh Court. They will be on site Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm to visit or arrange appointments if you have any questions. 

All their staff will have ID badges with logos as shown here and more contact details will be provided by United Living.

Show flat and guest room

During the work we have a respite flat to show finishes, colour ways, materials being used for you to come and inspect. Information on progress will also be available. If during the course of the works you would like a break you may use the respite flat for a few hours, although other residents will have access as well.

During the work United Living aim to keep disruption to a minimum and we appreciate customers' patience.

Bins and refuge collection will be relocated so it doesn’t interfere with access routes and health and safety requirements for the work. Notices will be provided of any changes.

Events

  • Planning permission granted, conditional on colour not being blue
  • Appointed United Living as main contractor, and have written to introduce themselves
  • Survey of all flats so the scope of the internal work can be assessed and planned. 

August 2017 update

The planning application that was sent into Bracknell Forest Council will be reviewed at the next planning committee meeting on 17 August. At this meeting, councillors will decide whether they will give planning permission. As part of this process, members of the council’s planning committee are visiting Iveagh Court on 12 August to look at the building and its surroundings in relation to the plans. They don't need access to the building but you may see them walking around the property.

Subject to planning permission, we will ask a number of building contractors to give us prices for the refurbishment work over the following month. We will provide updates on this process.

July 2017 update

Ground investigation works are to be carried out on Tuesday 18 July and Wednesday 19 July 2017.

These works will be carried out by Arc Environmental. They need access to open areas at ground level which they will cordon off as necessary to ensure safety on site. They will be using machinery to complete boreholes. We apologise for any inconvenience or disruption caused during these ground investigation works.

June 2017 update

The planning application for the improvement works are available to the public and can be viewed at the Bracknell Forest Council planning applications portal at www.bracknell-forest.gov.uk

We anticipate the council will make their decision regarding our planning application in July and we hope to be in a position to start the work this autumn. We will continue to consult with residents as we develop the detailed specification and programme for the works and keep you updated.

April 2017 update

We are holding drop in sessions in April for Iveagh Court residents to give information on repair and improvement work we are planning to carry out.

In February 2016 we started carrying out in-depth building surveys to tell us what investment and improvement is needed in Iveagh Court over the next five years.

The surveys covered all the building and grounds, and they focussed on a number of key areas that customers told us about. These key areas included:

  • Damp and mould in flats
  • Drainage of balconies
  • Heating
  • Roofing
  • Structure.

The information from the surveys was used by us and specialist surveyors to build our plan of works.

We have now finished drawing up our plan of investment in Iveagh Court. We are proposing to fix the issues the building surveys uncovered. This work includes:

  • Upgrading the heating in every flat
  • Replacing the roof covering
  • Insulating the walls to make every flat more energy efficient, which can help reduce bills
  • Replacing all the windows and doors
  • Replacing the external balcony walls with a modern, glass design
  • Re-building bin stores
  • Installing a modern main entrance, with a lift and wheelchair/pushchair ramp to give better access
  • Improved external lighting for better security at night
  • Replacing the external staircases with a safer, more modern design
  • Installing new fire doors to each flat
  • Installing a new access control system, improving security in the building
  • Redecoration of flats and communal areas as required, including (where necessary) replacement kitchens and bathrooms
  • Upgrading TV reception systems to modern standards.

The full extent of the work is subject to us gaining planning permission from Bracknell Forest Council.

The work we will carry out will result in an energy efficient, dry and secure home for you to live in. Some of the work will be disruptive and we will work with the chosen building contractor to keep you informed and minimise disruption. We will provide more information about this in the coming months.
